Eco Tourism Workshop Organised at Bomdila

BOMDILA,DEC.24: An Eco Tourism Workshop was organized today in
the Convention Hall of Hotel Tsepal Yangzom, Bomdila. The workshop was
attended by over forty tourism stake holders including tour operators,
transporters, hoteliers, taxi operators, guide trainees, etc.
Participants came from far flung areas i.e. Kalaktang, Bhalukpong,
Jigaon, Rupa, Dirang, Sangti and host town Bomdila.
Resource persons Lokesh Kumar, MBA (Forest Management) from Pragya
Gurgaon, Tsering Wange, MD Himalayan Holidays Bomdila and Indi Glow,
Promotor of Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary gave their respective
presentations on Ecotourism development in the State in general and
West Kameng district in particular. The focus was on holistic
development of the local communities with emphasis on environmental
conservation, culture conservation, health, education and livelihood.
The presentation was followed by an interactive session and discussion
on Ecotourism Cluster formation. In an effort to promote ecotourism in
the district, an NGO by the name West Kameng District Eco Tourism
Development Society (WKDETS) was formed from amongst the tourism stake
holders of the district with ten Executive members and thirty general
members. The WKDETS would function from the Development Research
Centre, Bomdila which is well equipped with library, computer, DVD ,
TV etc. On conclusion of the workshop Drakhya Ranjan Gogoi, Project
Officer Pragya extended the vote of thanks to all the participants who
